History: The VT-55 tank (“V” for “Vyprostovaci”, i.e. “Recovery”) version of the medium weight T-55 tanks was produced in St. Martin, Slovakia between 1969 and 1983. Totally, 1 820 pieces of the tank were manufactured, out of which some 80% were exported to the Soviet bloc and elsewhere.
